ATTN: Defending Japan joins Japan Security Watch

leave a comment »

Defending Japan started a month ago after months of wanting to get back into writing, and with the prodding of a few people over at Twitter. One of those people was Kyle Mizokami of Japan Security Watch. He helped convince me to start the blog, helped me gain some traffic, and now he’s offered me a chance to join forces. How could I refuse?

From this point on,  Defending Japan will be absorbed into Japan Security Watch and you will be able to find all the previous and future posts at that site. I want to thank everyone who plugged this blog and linked here, and I want to tell you how much I look forward to seeing you over at JSW. Please redirect your bookmarks to Japan Security Watch and subscribe to the RSS feed there.

@defendingjapan will also change, becoming @JapanSecWatch, so current followers will continue to receive site updates. You can also follow me personally at @jamesinjapan.

Thanks everyone!

Changes to the Basic Posting Shedule

leave a comment »

With New Year over, the normal work days have begun. It seems unlikely that I will be able to keep to the post schedule I laid down last week, so I have revised the schedule two weekend-based posts followed by small mid-week updates.

Sunday
1300 UTC: News Summary

Monday
1100 UTC: Analysis

1300 UTC: Special Feature

Tuesday-Saturday
Occasional updates

This is effective from today.

As Defending Japan is up and running, as you can see, with some posts to boot, it would be a good time to let you know what kind of posts you will see here, and when you should expect them.

Defending Japan will receive 4-5 posts a week minimum on the following basic preliminary schedule:

Monday:
1300 UTC: Special Feature or Hardware Monday (alternating weeks)

Wednesday:
>1300 UTC: News Summary or Analysis</strong

Friday:
1300 UTC: Analysis

Sunday:
1300 UTC: Summary

This is of course subject to change at a later date and at short notice.

Finally, thanks to everyone who has visited so far, or followed the twitter account (@defendingjapan). I look forward to hearing from you in the comments.

A New Year, A New Resolution

JSDF on parade at Camp Utsunomiya via Wikipedia

Once upon a time, there was a student who got lost in the world of self-defence, collective security, and post-war victimhood. He delved deeper and deeper into the forest of special measures laws and dangerous neighbours, waging battles in the staccato clattering of key-presses until finally he reached the other side. Blinking in the daylight, he joined the masses of besuited wage slaves and day by day his memory of those days in the dark forest began to wane. Lest he forget where he came from, and thus who we was, he once more ventured into the dank swamps of the forest of Japanese security, taking his ethereal guests with him.
